(Jan 15 2008 - still don’t know why my date stamp is stuck on January 1)

As I mentioned last Monday, my November weekend in Oregon/Washington was spent in large part driving. Sure, we had the wedding, the Mexican, the margaritas, the jacuzzi after the margaritas (heh heh heh), the karaoke after the jacuzzi and margaritas…but we also had driving, and lots of it.

Our last day in the Pacific Northwest was spent barreling down the highway, hugging the Columbia River, in a race to reach Multnomah Falls in time for sunset.

Allow me to state here and now that my friend Becca is a maniac behind the wheel, and my husband did a great job tearing after her, sometimes at speeds of 90mph.

We didn’t get there in time to see the sun set (well - we got to watch it set as we sped toward the falls, and I came up with a book title! HUNTING THE SUN - if I decide what it’s about I might even write it) but we did get in time to get a few pictures before the light fully faded.

Including this one, taken from the ground. Becca and my husband are the teensy figures up there waving from the bridge. I am the teensy figure in the middle who didn’t realize I should wave in order to be visible from the ground.

When we go back, we’ll start out and make a day trip just of the falls, so we can hike up to the top.

Hey, it’s Tuesday, and that means blog day at Tales from the Crit! This week I’m talking about theme v. motif. Come say hey!

Also, if you haven’t read DANGEROUS GROUNDS by Shelli Stevens, you should totally do yourself a favor and surf on over to check it out. It’s sweet AND sizzly! And maybe my favorite book so far this year.

100_0302-1.jpgMy husband’s aunt gave us a photo album of “photos through the years” culled from her collection of family pictures. Many of the photos are of my husband as a child, his family at different events (Christmases, summers at Ocean City) and a couple of the pictures included me. They were taken last year at his aunt’s annual holiday party (I consumed much wine and sang much karaoke). I’m eager to add more pictures to our album, so I loaded everything off my digital camera, and this is one of the photos that I took over the last few months.

November 9, my husband and I made a weekend trip to Oregon and spent a fair portion of our time in Yakima, Washington. We saw the drive as amateurs on the way to Yakima (we were attending my good friend and matron of honor’s renewal of vows ceremony), but on the way back, we had a funny guided tour that took place between two different cars. My friend and her husband drove in front of us and pulled over when they decided there was something interesting to see. Stonehenge was on the tour circuit, and as you can tell, we got there about mid-afternoon - cool, windy, air crisp and clean and sweet as it skimmed across the Columbia River. This is one of my favorite memories from that trip. I only wish we’d had a little more time to explore. Our visit was cut short by my friend’s determination to get us to Multnomah Falls in time to see the sun set. More on that next Monday.

Have you ever been to (this) Stonehenge?

EDIT TO ADD INFO LINKS:  More pictures and uh…some cultural oddities. :)

Tuesday (tomorrow) I’m blogging over at Tales from the Crit about my birthday, astrology chart, character creation and…well, not much more than that. I’m also on the Movie Review round this week, so don’t forget to check out the “Odds and Ends” section of Tales. I delved into anime.

If you need a little time-waster, stop by my MySpace and leave me a birthday present. It’s coming soon!

:(

I’m 29 in less than two weeks, and every morning I look more haggard! Today I had a wrinkle! A deep, cushiony crease right above the left corner of my mouth. It was so pink and wrinkly. :( My husband swears that it’s from the way I sleep and mush my face into the pillow, but gah!

My wrinkle turned into a rant.
